Dr Alvin Ng graduated with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1999 and
he was a recipient of Dean’s List Award for the First Professional Examination. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Singapore
General Hospital (SGH) and attained the Masters of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Membership of the Royal College of
Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2003. Following this, he took up Advanced Specialist Training in Endocrinology. He received
his Specialist Accreditation in Endocrinology by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in 2007 and was appointed consultant
endocrinologist at SGH.

In 2008, Dr Ng was awarded the Health Manpower Development Award (HMDP) which was jointly sponsored by MOH and
Singhealth for a fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic, sub-specializing in Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases.  Under
the mentorship of world renowned researchers, he embarked on several projects including population-based studies in fracture
epidemiology, and clinical studies involving vitamin D, fat-bone relationships and circulating osteoprogenitor cells. His work on
vitamin D deficiency in multiple myeloma was shortlisted for the American Journal of Hematology Young Investigator Award in
2008 and he was invited to be a member of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) Task Force on
Atypical Femoral Fractures in 2009. At the Mayo Clinic, which is consistently ranked as one of the top endocrinology centers in
the world, he was exposed to a wealth of interesting and complex cases and interacted with many eminent fellow colleagues. More
importantly, it was the values espoused by the Mayo Clinic that left its most indelible mark.

Dr Ng has published widely in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His research is supported by grants from the Singhealth
Foundation, Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore and the National Medical Research Council. He has successfully
established productive collaborations with investigators that cut across fields such as geriatric medicine, orthopedics hematology,
radiology, nutritional science and biomechanical engineering. He has also been invited to speak at regional and international
conferences. Dr Ng is a clinical teacher at the National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine since 2003 and
he is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.

Dr Ng has an extensive clinical experience. Besides a dedicated osteoporosis clinic, he manages patients with diabetes, obesity,
lipid/cholesterol disorders, thyroid disease, calcium disorders and pituitary-adrenal diseases. He believes the patient’s needs
always come first. He strives to individualize care for his patients, and to provide the highest quality up-to-date treatment with care
and compassion.
